Key Responsibilities
- Primary technical lead for the golden image factory engagement
- Run discovery sessions to assess current practices, compliance needs, and target architecture
- Design and document the end-to-end image factory (lineage, testing, distribution)
- Present recommendations and roadmaps to mixed audiences
- Flag risks, dependencies, and scope changes early
- Build image pipelines with HCP Packer (multi-platform + registry publishing)
- Develop Terraform modules to consume images and provision compliant infrastructure
- Implement image hardening (CIS, STIG, or client standards)
- Integrate with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins) for automated workflows
- Set up versioning, channel promotion, and validation (InSpec, Goss, etc.)
- Design supporting cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Implement secrets management (Vault or cloud-native)
- Ensure image lineage, metadata, and compliance are tracked
- Define naming, tagging, and governance standards
- Produce documentation, runbooks, and ADRs
- Lead enablement sessions and deliver reusable templates
Preferred Skills
- Background in Systems Engineering, Architecture, or Consulting
- Strong Terraform experience (modules, state, workspaces)
- Packer and HCP Packer experience
- Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Vault or similar secrets management
- CI/CD pipeline integration experience
- Familiarity with image hardening and compliance tools
- Client-facing delivery experience
- HashiCorp certs are a plus
